Ceramica Catalano’s commitment to the environment

Sustainability

June 2024

Aware of the high energy use and CO₂ emissions in the ceramic industry, Catalano has purchased carbon credits by supporting international projects oriented towards environmental, social and climate protection.

The Mai Ndombe REDD+

By joining ‘The Mai Ndombe REDD+’ project in Congo, we neutralised 50 tonnes of CO₂ through REDD+ certified carbon credits. The project aims to eliminate deforestation and improve the socio-economic livelihood of the community’s surrounding areas. In concrete terms, the goal is to build schools, health centres, repair and expand existing hospitals, provide a network of rural canteens, improve agricultural production techniques, recruit employees from the local communities, and reduce 100 million tonnes of CO₂ within 30 years.

Metro Dehli

Through our participation in the world’s largest sustainable public transport project, we neutralised 150 tonnes of CO₂ through certified carbon credits. The project aims to build a new 102-kilometre state-of-the-art metro line, improving energy efficiency and air quality.

Catalano is part of the Mittel Group through its subsidiary Italian Bathroom Design Group S.r.l., which owns it and consolidates its presence in the designer bathroom furniture sector.
